Last song: It's Bedtime by Ninja Sex Party (lol look the way I listen to music is I put Every Song I've Ever Liked into one playlist and hit shuffle)
Favorite color: Green, if it wasn't obvious from my pfp lol
Last book: Mort by Terry Pratchet. I've just started to scratch the surface of the Discworld as this is my second book in the setting, but I've really enjoyed both Mort and Guards! Guards!
Last movie: shit uhhhh I don't watch movies very often so I'm not actually sure what one I watched most recently... I think it might've been No Time to Die, which was Daniel Craig's last Bond movie. (to clarify I watched that sometime late last year, not like, when it came out lmao)
Last TV show: Haven't finished it yet but The Legend of Vox Machina. I never actually watched the DnD podcast it's based on (though I've seen clips and I love Dropout.tv, which hosts it), but the show's been really good!
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: My sweet tooth knows no limits. No amount of sugar can fulfill the deep hunger within me for sweetness (exaggerating). Love me some savory foods too. Especially when they're paired with sweet, orange chicken my beloved... Spicy... it depends, really. If the spiciness brings a lot of good flavor with it, I love it, and can have a lot of tolerance for the heat. If it's just spicy for the sake of spicy though, just pure capsaicin? Nah, even if it's relatively low scoville, I'm out.
Last search: Funny answer: capsaicin to make sure I spelled it right cause I FUCKING DID TUMBLR, YOU BITCH, GET THAT RED SQUIGGLE OUTTA HERE. Real answer: Searched a Warframe mod someone mentioned to see where it drops.
Current obsession: @ostrigjpg ;3
but also, who'da guessed, Warframe lmao
Looking forward to: spending more time with @ostrigjpg <3, getting back to making steady progress on school, starting HRT hopefully, Valve's got something going on in the background and I wanna see that, got some cool Warframe stuff I'm close to unlocking, uhhh there's probably more but brain is not brainalating rn

10 People I'd Like to Know Better
Thanks for the tags @gaiaseyes451 and @beerok23!💜!💜
last song: Gloria by the Lumineers
favourite colour: Red, like a deep luscious red that you know would taste good if you licked it. Don't act innocent, you know exactly what I mean by that. Red is a color that you just know tastes good.
last book: I am currently trying to read the Witcher series (per @lickthecowhappy's suggestion) so I am at the start of the Last Wish
last movie: Moana 2 (I have young kidsssss)
last TV show: My oldest is almost 10 which means she stays up late. Which also means I have so little time to watch adult things. So we've been watching the Office with her. I think I want to watch the Good Place with her next tho (I've never watched it!)
sweet/spicy/savoury: Sweet followed very, very closely by spicy. Habanero maple syrup is one of my favorite things on the planet.
last thing i searched online: How to explain a 10 year career hiatus in a cover letter (looking to return to work since having kids. It's been an interesting experience so far).
current obsession: Have not moved on from Good Omens, but recently realized that my obsession may be more in my own little connected universe of fics that I wrote rather than the actual canon at this point😳. I'm sure once we get that first glimpse of red and white hair that will change very quickly.
looking forward to: Going back to work and having a more established adult life again, honestly. I've been so lucky to be home with my kids while they are young, but I am ready. And figuring out how my newfound passion for writing is going to fit into that new life of mine. Another big year of change over here for me, and I am eagerly looking forward to how the growing pains are going to make way for something beautiful beyond.
ten people i’d like to know better:
@addledmongoose, @di-42, @afrenchwriter, @haemey, @eybefioro, @alwaystuesday, @katspause, @alphacentaurinebula, @shadesofecclescakes, @ochre-sunflower and whoever wants to do it (but also feel free to ignore!)

How fortunate am I to have so many Things to love and be excited about, to appreciate and look forward to?
Things I feel so strongly about that they stumble into my mind, univited, at random times of the day? Things that spill into my speech and vocabulary without me noticing? Things that impact my vision to the point where everywhere I look, everywhere I go, I see ghosts of them?
How lucky am I to have so many Things I love and cherish enough for them to reshape my very person, change my beliefs and make me grow? Things that make my own loved ones see the Things out in the wild, and go out of their way to make sure I see them too?
How wonderful is it that I have Things that I love so much that the very act is deemed and dubbed "not normal", making my love for them seem like it's more than they are supposed to recieve? An out-of-the-ordinary and above-the-norm appreciation for the Things that make the people around me shake their heads, call me "silly".
My dear, beloved Things, may I always stay silly for you ❤️
#yes this is yet another post about legendborn lmao#but also one of my friends sent me a post with a reminder to log into Genshin today#just to get the birthday-greeting card for one of my/my favorite character#and they send me this because even though it's my favorite character#this person also knows I don't actually play genshin that much and knows that I would probably miss it if they didn't remind me 🥺🥺#and my friends let me yap about Legendborn the other day lol#and my fellow legendbornian-in-crime commented on my insta story about annotating the book that “noone loves this series more than you”#which ofc isn't *TRUE* true but it still made me feel all fuzzy lol#my parents also got me a few sets of silver earrings for christmas bcs I mentioned in passing I wanted more silver jewelry#and one of the pairs they got me was with owls because Owl City has been one of my favorite artists since forever#and I THRIVED in 2012-fashion bcs the owl jewelry was fkn EVERYWHERE and I got SO MANY because it made me think of Owl City lol#and my brother got me The Book Of Bill bcs both he and I love Gravity Falls SO MUCH#I just love ✨️ loving ✨️ things I guess#so this post is very much a love letter to my special interests and hyperfixations <333#currently have had 'Tears Run Dry' by Patrik Jean on repeat for the past 2 or so days bcs it's fkn STUNNING#but it also makes me think about my friend's ArleFuri fic bcs it just fits so welll 😭😭#and at the same time (and the reason I have it so within reach lol) is bcs I have added it to an OC's playlist for a story I'm writing#I have so damn many things I love and I almost start crying thinking about how fortunate I am to have all these things I love so dearly#and live in a time where all of these things exist and I get to experience them all at a moment's notice#and just simply get to indulge in fandom behaviour and have people around me who also LET ME do that#i love hearing people yap about what they're passionate about regardless if I know what it is or not#like how beautiful isnt it to see someone's eyes sparkle and looking like they're itching all over because they simply can't help it#they just can't contain their love and passion for the Thing ??? absolutely incredible#tove rambles#oh and don't fkn get me started on how 'Dream Catcher' by Set It Off basically is the reason I'm so determined to become one#and it being part of how I made my 17-year old self believe I could actually do what I CURRENTLY DO nearly 10 years later

underrated genre of character playlist entry: songs a character would relate to because they do not understand their situation, themself, or the song itself well enough to realize it is not accurate (and might well straight up be a callout for people like them). which song is your blorbo's fight club
#whosebaby talks#general fandoms tag#shitposting#genuinely this is one of my favorite things to put in a character's playlist#for one thing i seem to like characters who listen to The Plagues and go WOW COOL BLOODTHIRSTY VENGEANCE FOR A WORLD THAT'S WRONGED YOU#and miss or ignore the part where it's meant to be tragic and moses is devastated because they're people and it's his home too#pericles is the first one that comes to mind because the autisms are autisming all over sdmi currently#but he's definitely not the only one#the only thing is it makes me a little itchy because it makes me wish i could put a little note when i share a playlist that#'no this playlist is not about them being a misunderstood hero they just have a severely distorted view of the world'#sometimes because 'misunderstood hero' would be uh. uhhhhh. it would sure have Implications with some instances#but also because No That's Wrong!! the distortion in their pov is what makes them a good character!!! in my own interpretation or otherwise!#pericles loses So Much Depth if you just play his understandable and even admirable traits as unironic instead of twisted and warped#and gone horribly wrong thanks to how his flaws and external life circumstances t-boned those positive/reasonable traits + motivations#where did he make his own choices to lean into it when he did have the agency to do otherwise#(see: i think in the newniverse; without the entity's influence; the very things that make him such a terrifyingly effective force)#(which are his primary expression of being an evil piece of shit due to his trauma and external circumstances and his reaction to them)#(and the choices he makes about them; would make him an equally effective force for good because they'd make him an *amazing* activist)#'i am my own definition of a vengeful righteous hero dishing out justice against real evil' is his extremely warped idea of what he's doing#he thinks he's the main protagonist of hell's coming with me and he's. not. he's just enough steps to the left to be a horror instead#anyway i love him and i love assigning songs like this your honor#professor pericles#SDMItag

Thanks for the tag @pocket-ozwynn ! I like these bc a) it's fun to get to know a little tidbit about others and b) it's a good source of references and recommendations :)
🎧Last song listened to: I don't remember, but yesterday I was listening to Claire Leslie (Christian girlie pop music), Evan Egerer (Christian), and a playlist on YouTube called "Video Game Crime Jazz" by Wuss2ns. XD
🎨Favorite color: So many beautiful colors and combinations, but I do love a deep, dark purple. Also certain color combos are really fun, like light pink+silver+lavender, or red+white, or peach+pastel yellow+light orange, blue+purple+pink+orange, etc.
📖Last book read: Can't remember--I think it was "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton. I generally prefer writing over reading.
📺Last TV show watched: I think it was Bob's Burgers?
🍿Last movie watched: I think it was The Bad Guys?
🍰Sweet/spicy/savory: Sweet and savory! I can't handle spicy and I don't like being in pain lol... I do like wasabi, though, mostly bc the spicy hits right away and quickly subsides (as oppose to other spicy foods where the spicy-ness gradually builds and lingers).
🌀Current obsession: None I suppose? My OCs are always on my mind, but that's nothing new. I'm currently interested in landscape/scenery/atmospheric art and wanting to improve my art skills in that area.
🔎Last thing searched: Color combinations (to make sure I was naming the right colors) and The Bad Guys (I couldn't remember if "the" was in the title of not).
👀Looking forward to: Learning, growing, and taking advantage of new opportunities this year, as well as spending time with loved ones.
I'm tagging anyone seeing this who wants to join :)
// 10 People I'd like to know better //
I got tagged by @kbthebearcat and @captain-clandestiny THANK YOU GUYS
🎧Last song🎧: I am not sure to be honest 😭 i was listening a mixed playlist on shuffle but i last remember listening to return to forever and when i fall in love
🎨Favorite color🎨: THE ONE AS MY BLOG BACKGROUND i am obsessed 💔 AND A WARMER TONE OF MUSTARD YELLOW tbh all the natural colors really 🤭
📚last book📚: I am not much of a reader, but i read "Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi" as homework. (Browsed the recap but sshhh)
🍿Last movie🍿: Ugh i am so embarrassed but Sonic 3. MY FRIENDS FORCED ME OKAY?!. Like you can't expect someone who likes "The Game", "Silence of the lambs", "there will be blood", "Jane Eyre" etc to like such a movie- i am REALLY picky about what i watch. But yeah it was Sonic 3 I'm sorry 💀
📺 Last tv show 📺: It was "Baby Raindeer" i guess... It was alright.
🍔 sweet/spicy/savory 🍔: Savory 😌
🌀Current obsession🌀: ASSASSIN'S CREED ASSASSIN'S CREED ASSASSIN'S CREED ASSASSIN'S CREED ASSASSIN'S CREED
Finished the ezio trilogy and now playing unity and black flag. Torturing myself by replaying missions (in unity) over and over until i perfectly ghost them. People hate that game for some reason but i like it a lot tbh
🔍 Last thing searched 🔍:
I was answering the ask then i called Hargrove "passed away recently". i was sure it was not as "recently" so i searched to find out. 2018 was the date. He was such a nice trumpeter. I found about him after coming up with Roy and now one of his songs i think is roy if he was a song. Here's the song for those wondering !
👀looking forward to👀: nothing specific. But i am curious about the gt of that upcoming fable game. Probably can't afford it and don't have the hardware to run it so I'll watch the gameplays 💀

tbh the thing i love more than packing before a trip is the tech prep i do. i add more music and new playlists to my ipod, i download a new book or two onto my kindle, i fully charge my portable battery, etc. it can be a process but i'm always so grateful i did it in the end
#i usually read books from the library or that ive bought secondhand#but ive had a kindle for a decade and i use it when traveling for convenience#so while i have a paper book that i havent read yet here at home#ill read that once im back and will bring my kindle instead#its one of those paperwhite kindles which is nice so it doenst feel like a tablet#anyway. i also use vinyl cds spotify and youtube for music#so sometimes my ipod gets 'out of date' in that my current favorite playlists havent made it there yet#so im doing that now#tree talks

I love the phenomenon where you find a new song from a new artist, n then u listen to the album the song's from, n u'll like it, n then listen to the other albums have, and still, even years later u'll still think the first song u found is the best one from the album n even from the artist's entire discography
#post#music#currently making a playlist of all my fave songs from various albums#n it's p funny how I relisten to the albums#n I like the entire album! but my eternal favorite is still the first one I found

On the topic of things that don't stop being awesome even as you age: putting on a playlist of songs you like to sing along with/jam out to for any reason whatsoever (you had a shit day, you're in a particular mood, you need a boost, you just want some music).
We don't think anything of doing that as kids or teens. Hell, it's generally expected that we'll listen to our music too loud and annoy the shit out of our parents. But a lot of people treat it as cringe to do the older you get. But the endorphins and power of music don't stop just because you got older. So pick out new faves and old faves, turn the volume up, and let yourself have fun with it.
Sing your heart out. Dance with wild abandon. Rage along with Rage Against the Machine. Feel your eyes well up as you belt along with "This is Me." Let yourself be transported to another place in time by the memory of the first time you heard a song.
#v's musings#music is one of my favorite things#currently belting along with flagpole sitta#“I'm not sick but I'm not well and I'm so hot cause I'm hell”#gods I love this song#a small selection of other songs on this playlist#anti-hero#hey jealousy#the chain#this is me#irrelevant#raise your glass#plea from a cat named virtue#fast car#stick season#all I know so far#water under the bridge#sleeping in the cold below#one headlight#rain king

Homemaking, gardening, and self-sufficiency resources that won't radicalize you into a hate group
It seems like self-sufficiency and homemaking skills are blowing up right now. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis, a lot of folks, especially young people, are looking to develop skills that will help them be a little bit less dependent on our consumerist economy. And I think that's generally a good thing. I think more of us should know how to cook a meal from scratch, grow our own vegetables, and mend our own clothes. Those are good skills to have.
Unfortunately, these "self-sufficiency" skills are often used as a recruiting tactic by white supremacists, TERFs, and other hate groups. They become a way to reconnect to or relive the "good old days," a romanticized (false) past before modern society and civil rights. And for a lot of people, these skills are inseparably connected to their politics and may even be used as a tool to indoctrinate new people.
In the spirit of building safe communities, here's a complete list of the safe resources I've found for learning homemaking, gardening, and related skills. Safe for me means queer- and trans-friendly, inclusive of different races and cultures, does not contain Christian preaching, and does not contain white supremacist or TERF dog whistles.
Homemaking/Housekeeping/Caring for your home:
Making It by Kelly Coyne and Erik Knutzen [book] (The big crunchy household DIY book; includes every level of self-sufficiency from making your own toothpaste and laundry soap to setting up raised beds to butchering a chicken. Authors are explicitly left-leaning.)
Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair by Mercury Stardust [book] (A guide to simple home repair tasks, written with rentals in mind; very compassionate and accessible language.)
How To Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis [book] (The book about cleaning and housework for people who get overwhelmed by cleaning and housework, based on the premise that messiness is not a moral failing; disability and neurodivergence friendly; genuinely changed how I approach cleaning tasks.)
Gardening
Rebel Gardening by Alessandro Vitale [book] (Really great introduction to urban gardening; explicitly discusses renter-friendly garden designs in small spaces; lots of DIY solutions using recycled materials; note that the author lives in England, so check if plants are invasive in your area before putting them in the ground.)
Country/Rural Living:
Woodsqueer by Gretchen Legler [book] (Memoir of a lesbian who lives and works on a rural farm in Maine with her wife; does a good job of showing what it's like to be queer in a rural space; CW for mentions of domestic violence, infidelity/cheating, and internalized homophobia)
"Debunking the Off-Grid Fantasy" by Maggie Mae Fish [video essay] (Deconstructs the off-grid lifestyle and the myth of self-reliance)
Sewing/Mending:
Annika Victoria [YouTube channel] (No longer active, but their videos are still a great resource for anyone learning to sew; check out the beginner project playlist to start. This is where I learned a lot of what I know about sewing.)
Make, Sew, and Mend by Bernadette Banner [book] (A very thorough written introduction to hand-sewing, written by a clothing historian; lots of fun garment history facts; explicitly inclusive of BIPOC, queer, and trans sewists.)
Sustainability/Land Stewardship
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer [book] (Most of you have probably already read this one or had it recommended to you, but it really is that good; excellent example of how traditional animist beliefs -- in this case, indigenous American beliefs -- can exist in healthy symbiosis with science; more philosophy than how-to, but a great foundational resource.)
Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer [book] (This one is for my fellow witches; one of my favorite witchcraft books, and an excellent example of a place-based practice deeply rooted in the land.)
Avoiding the "Crunchy to Alt Right Pipeline"
Note: the "crunchy to alt-right pipeline" is a term used to describe how white supremacists and other far right groups use "crunchy" spaces (i.e., spaces dedicated to farming, homemaking, alternative medicine, simple living/slow living, etc.) to recruit and indoctrinate people into their movements. Knowing how this recruitment works can help you recognize it when you do encounter it and avoid being influenced by it.
"The Crunchy-to-Alt-Right Pipeline" by Kathleen Belew [magazine article] (Good, short introduction to this issue and its history.)
Sisters in Hate by Seyward Darby (I feel like I need to give a content warning: this book contains explicit descriptions of racism, white supremacy, and Neo Nazis, and it's a very difficult read, but it really is a great, in-depth breakdown of the role women play in the alt-right; also explicitly addresses the crunchy to alt-right pipeline.)
These are just the resources I've personally found helpful, so if anyone else has any they want to add, please, please do!

current fixation: making ship playlists for my own ocs that literally only I and like two of my friends care about
some personal favorites -
MALACHITE (Alistair/Ichiro Kato x Nadine/Mayu Kato) - An arranged marriage couple who eventually fall in love. Their playlist is headlined with "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by the Shirelles because they spend a lot of their early years seeming so close to being lovers yet never making it past the sunrise.
A few more important songs -
"What You Won't Do For Love" by Bobby Caldwell - I chose this song for them because Nadine is, in the beginning and out of the two the most focused on cultivating some love or relationship with Alistair, even if not romantic.
"Two Lovers" by Mary Wells - This song represents how Alistair, a successful businessman who grew up without a father is very cold at times. There's an anger beneath his surface that we see reflected even at Nadine early on in their relationship. However, there's a sweet side of them that wants to be a good friend and a good husband to her. She regularly notes how he can be so rigid and irritable at times and yet so sweet and loving at others. As time passes, he moves away from his angry nature as he makes peace with some of his traumas, but this song best exemplifies their relationship at first, where it feels like she has two lovers in one man.
"Mayonaka No Door/Stay With Me" by Miki Matsubara - I mainly picked this song because the pair realizes soon on that the only people that they can truly be themselves with are each other. They make their own terms for how to live together and realize how much they care for and need each other. They comfort one another and build their own peace. (this is a very loose interpretation compared to some of the others I have here but it works to me)
"Lean On Me" by Bill Withers - Nadine is a very forgiving individual who tries her best to give people second chances. As a result, she's quickly tired. Alistair is very quick to defend her and let her depend on him because while she's very strong and can defend herself, it's not always easy for her to do so given the time period (1910s).
RUBELLITE (Rouge/Asmoth Allard x Colette de Valois) - A pair of business partners who finally get together after years of pining. Their relationship is best explained with the first five songs -
"Let's Get Married" by Jagged Edge - This song is partly there as a gag and partly serious because the tone of the song makes me laugh but it is really fitting for this couple. One of them, Rouge, was always very eager at the idea of getting married to his partner, Colette, and suggested it practically the moment they got together.
"Mona Lisa" by Nat King Cole - He always wanted to see past Colette's cold, untouchable surface. Always wanted to understand her, almost like how one wants to understand a painting when one can't ask the painter. He's a half-demon and she is a half-angel, which sets them apart further in his eyes because a part of him worries that he'll never understand her because they're too different. "Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa? Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?" - Is she really as cold as she seems or is there more behind her calculated surface?
"This Is For The Lover In You" by Shalamar - They always brought out the softer and warmer parts of each other, the lover in each other. It's also again a reference to the marriage thing, "This ring means I'll always be true" It also represents the trust they give each other and the promises they make to one another.
"Somethin' Stupid" by Frank & Nancy Sinatra - This song best represents their relationship before they get together. He loves her and tells her this often, but often is met with her rejection. She doesn't entirely believe him, and can't admit that she feels the same because she doesn't want to be hurt. Specifically this bit: "The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red, and oh, the night's so blue" really aligns with how Rouge is love-drunk on her and always finds himself professing how he feels even though the result is yet to change.
"My Cherie Amour" by Stevie Wonder - This song mainly felt fitting because their main story takes place in France. I also felt the loving and doting voice of the song fits one of the characters and how he feels about his partner. In the song, the narrator hasn't met the girl he sings about. Part of the reason I chose this song is because it represents Colette's coldness and how it seems like she knows so much of him yet he hardly knows her at all. They spend a lot of time together and she knows him better than anybody else, yet he can't say the same for her for a long time. Example bit: "My Cherie amour, lovely as a summer day, my Cherie amour, distant as the Milky Way"
ok I'm done thanks if you actually read that rambling
